GIS/Mapping
A Message from the GIS Analyst
The Energy & Utilities Department's geographical information
system (GIS) links digitized autocad drawings (spatial data) to
traditional organizational information (relational data). The use of
"live " data has already resulted in the generation of tremendous
interest throughout the University.
The GIS has enormous potential for facilitating planning, design,
and construction of facilities and infrastructure projects. In
addition, the GIS has potential for use in the continuous
programming of space utilization, monitoring and controlling energy
consumption and maintenance costs in "real" time, planning security
systems, and numerous other applications.
