UVA Recycling Back Site
At the UVA Recycling Back Site, material that has been collected around Grounds is sorted and shipped, some sent away in bins and some baled first.
The back site is located beyond the UVA Recycling office at the end of Leake Drive which is parallel
to McCormick across from Alderman Dorms.
After being sorted, containers are crushed into a bale with our new, much larger baler.
Bales of aluminum and plastic.
The cardboard packer truck, which runs on biodiesel, compresses the cardboard collected at
most buildings on grounds at an average rate of two tons per day.

collected during move-in weekend.
After it has been sorted from the other Used Beverage Containers (UBC), the commingled
glass is sent to a processor.
